Laxkibu Gaaylk - Wolf Bowl

Laxkibu Gaaylk - Wolf Bowl

This bowl would be used by the chief and his royal family, when they put up a feast or Potlatch honoring their crest or clan. These special utensils were filled with grease, berries or cooked foods, then it was placed in front of the main guests. The abalone shell and copper are used as symbols of wealth for the royalties. The opercula shell was found only in certain areas and would cost much in trade goods. These were displayed on the rims of carved bowls.

Alder, abalone shell, copper,opercula shell.
